ONE OF OUR HIGHLY-EXPERIENCED LASER TECHNICIANS EXPLAINS!

Laser Tattoo Removal is the process of using multi-wavelength laser technology to fade or completely remove a tattoo.

Believe it or not, but your body actually begins fading a tattoo immediately after getting it — which explains why fresh tattoos look so, well, fresh! Our body’s immune system immediately detects a tattoo as a foreign object and sends white blood cells to break down the ink. The body then begins filtering the ink absorbed by the white blood cells through the lymphatic system. Your lymphatic system’s job is to fight infection and to filter harmful substances from the body including bad bacteria, viruses, parasites and other pathogens.

When tattoo pigment in the dermis is hit by light from Q-Switch or Pico lasers, the ink shatters into far smaller particles which white blood cells can break down a lot faster and filter through the lymph nodes to then — ahem — excrete from your body.

The speed with which ink particles are filtered out of the body is different for every single client and is dependent on several factors: Where the tattoo is located on the body, how deep the ink was applied within the skin, the type of ink used during the tattoo application and how well your lymphatic system is working. There are ways to boost your lymphatic system including drinking plenty of water, getting regular exercise — yes, you heard that right!
