How to Save Money on Tattoo Removal: Top Tips from LaserTat

Tattoo removal can be a significant investment, but there are smart ways to save money while ensuring you get the best possible results. At LaserTat, we’re dedicated to helping you achieve your tattoo removal goals in the most cost-effective manner. Here are some of the best ways to save money on your tattoo removal journey.

1. Take Advantage of Our Package Deal

One of the most effective ways to save money on your tattoo removal is to take advantage of our package deal. When you pay for three treatments upfront, you receive the fourth treatment free. This not only provides a substantial discount but also ensures you commit to the necessary sessions for effective removal.

2. Space Out Your Treatments

Leaving longer intervals between treatments can enhance your results and reduce the total number of sessions needed. This is because your body needs time to break down and eliminate the ink particles. By allowing adequate healing time, each treatment can be more effective, ultimately saving you money in the long run.

3. Utilise Afterpay for Flexible Payments

We understand that upfront costs can be challenging, which is why we offer Afterpay as a payment option. Afterpay allows you to split the cost of your treatments into four interest-free payments, making it easier to manage your budget while still accessing the services you need.

LaserTat accepts Afterpay cards in clinic to make tattoo removal more accessible

4. Bundle Multiple Tattoos in One Session

If you have multiple tattoos you wish to remove, bundling them together in a single treatment session can save you money. It’s more cost-effective to treat multiple tattoos at once rather than scheduling separate sessions for each one. This way, you maximise your time and reduce overall costs.

5. Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

Your body’s health plays a crucial role in the tattoo removal process. A healthy lifestyle, including proper hydration, a balanced diet, and regular exercise, can boost your immune system and help your body break down the ink more efficiently. Faster results mean fewer sessions, which translates to cost savings.

6. Follow Aftercare Instructions

Proper aftercare can prevent complications and promote faster healing, reducing the likelihood of needing extra treatments. Adhering to the aftercare instructions provided by our team ensures you get the best results from each session, saving you money in the long run.

7. Consider Gift Vouchers

Another great way to save is by utilising gift vouchers. Friends and family can purchase LaserTat gift vouchers for you for birthdays, Christmas, or other special occasions. These vouchers can help cover the cost of treatments, making your tattoo removal journey even more affordable.

Extra Tips for Saving Money on Tattoo Removal

- Stay Consistent: Regularly attending your scheduled sessions even when spaced longer apart, ensures steady progress and prevents the need for additional treatments.

- Use Your Tax Return Wisely: Tax time is an excellent opportunity to invest in your tattoo removal. Using your tax return to purchase a package or book additional treatments can provide a financial boost, allowing you to take advantage of our package deals and save money in the process.

- Consult with Professionals: Always seek advice from our experienced team to tailor your treatment plan, ensuring you only pay for necessary sessions.

By following these tips and utilising the offers available at LaserTat, you can achieve effective tattoo removal while keeping your expenses in check. Remember, investing in your tattoo removal strategically and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can lead to better results and significant savings over time.

Laser Tattoo Removal: How long until you can see results?

As laser technicians, we often find ourselves being asked how long it will be before our clients start seeing results from their treatments. It is important to understand that everyone has a different tattoo removal journey and results differ from person to person as well as tattoo to tattoo.

As explained in our previous blogs and on our social media platforms, there are many factors that impact ones tattoo removal journey: age of tattoo, client’s immune system, density of ink, colour, depth, time in between treatments, location of tattoo, etc. It is important to take these factors into consideration when starting your own laser journey.

It is not uncommon for your tattoo to remain the same in appearance following your first or even your second treatment. For most, visible changes start to occur around the third treatment, however, this can be different for everyone. We generally recommend 6-12 treatments for complete removal. For those who have grey wash tattoos (less density of ink in the skin) visible changes can happen almost immediately or at a quicker rate (sometimes 2-6 treatments for complete removal) in comparison to very deep, dark and dense ink.

Let’s go into some of these factors a bit more to help you understand …

Depth and density of ink in the skin

The depth of ink plays a big role in how quickly a tattoo removes. Heavier line work tattoos are often sitting a lot deeper in the skin compared to shading, grey wash and fine line tattoos. When the ink is sitting deeper and the density is higher, it will take a longer course of treatments to fully remove. Therefore it may be a few treatments in before you see some changes in your tattoo.

Results after 7 laser tattoo removal treatments

This client’s script tattoo has been lined fairly deep in the skin. We were able to see some slight changes after 2-3 treatments and now at 7 treatments have some significant results from our laser.

Results after 2 tattoo removal treatments

Tattoos that are made up of mostly grey wash often see a change very quickly with laser treatments. This client has a tattoo with very little ink and grey wash that is also close to the surface of the skin. Less ink = less laser, which is why we have seen some fantastic results here after just 2 treatments.

Results after 3 tattoo removal treatments

The more ink pigments in the tattoo, the more pigment your body has to remove through its lymphatic system. It is not uncommon for it to take multiple treatments before you can start to see a visible change, just like the example shown here. It may not be the drastic change compared to the grey wash example above, but this is very normal for the amount of ink in this tattoo.

Colour tattoos

Some coloured pigments of ink can often take longer to remove than others. This all depends on the colour and make up/ingredients of the ink and the wavelength we are using with the laser.

We are lucky enough to be the only clinic in SA to use both PicoSure and Q-switch laser technologies allowing us to treat all colours with three different wavelengths across the two lasers. With our Pico laser, we can often see immediate or fast results in blues, greens and purples.

Results after 1 laser tattoo removal treatment

Here you can see amazing results after just 1 treatment with our PicoSure laser. Bright ‘cool’ colours are the perfect match for the 755 wavelength.

Results after 5 laser tattoo removal treatments

Tattoos with multiple colours take longer to remove than other tattoos due to the multiple pigments that need targeting with our lasers. All three wavelengths are required to target all the colours within this tattoo example. Lighter colours such as pink, yellow and orange can be harder to remove, especially if they contain white pigment as they can be reflective of the laser.

Results after 1 laser tattoo removal treatment

As you now know, our PicoSure laser is amazing at targeting blue, purple and green ink. After 1 treatment those colours within this tattoo are almost completely gone – this is the magic of a Pico treatment! The red ink is targeted by a different wavelength, which we have not yet treated.

Time in between treatments

I know we go on about this a lot but the longer you leave between your treatments the better your results will be! For those patient and happy to wait longer between treatments you will generally need less treatments in the long run compared to coming in every 6 weeks. The tradeoff is that it will take a longer time of course. You will notice results will progressively appear with your removal with time, even if you left it 3 months, 6 months or even a year.

For those wanting to have a piece removed as quick as possible, you are able to come in every 8 weeks but you may require more treatments over a shorter time period.

Results after 1 laser tattoo removal treatment

This client left a 2 year break between her treatments. This is a prime example of why we recommend leaving longer gaps between your appointments. The longer you leave, the more fading you see!

Results after 6 laser tattoo removal treatments

During your consultation we advise that if you leave longer between your treatments, you often require less treatments. The client in this example had 6 laser treatments over a span of 3 years and has achieved a complete removal!

For those of you that are currently or have previously been a laser client, you would know that the results from laser are progressive. In other words, results become more obvious the more laser treatments that you have and the longer that you leave between treatments. Laser tattoo removal is not considered a ‘quick fix’ and can take months, even years to achieve complete removal.

We always assess and tailor a treatment plan to you and your tattoo individually at our first consultation. This allows us to achieve the best possible results and as quickly as possible. When you begin treatments we will also take a before photo so we can compare along the way and show you your tattoo removal progress.

It is super important to remember that there is no specific way your tattoo ‘should’ look after each treatment and everyone and every tattoo will respond differently and at varied rates. Some tattoos will respond quicker than others and some tattoos will respond slower and that’s okay!

We are so passionate about tattoo removal and we absolutely love being able to achieve great results for our clients.

Pain Management: Exploring effective options for laser tattoo removal.

Undergoing laser tattoo removal treatments can sometimes be an uncomfortable experience, and at LaserTat we understand that each person will tolerate the sensation of the laser differently. Luckily, there are numerous methods available to alleviate the discomfort typically associated with laser tattoo removal procedures. In this blog, we'll detail several simple yet effective pain management strategies to help you navigate your laser journey with minimal discomfort.

Anaesthetic Cream – Our #1 go to!

Numit anaesthetic cream

One of the most popular approaches for alleviating discomfort during laser tattoo removal is the use of numbing cream, which can be purchased from most pharmacies prior to your treatment. To get optimal results from your numbing cream application, we recommend coating the tattooed area approximately 1-2 hours prior to your appointment, ensuring thorough coverage and then wrapping the area in an occlusive plastic covering such as cling wrap. This ensures the numbing cream stays in place, and also enhances the absorption of it into the skin. The cream works by obstructing nerve signals in the skin, therefore dulling any sensation in the area during the laser treatment. Please note that while these application instructions are what we typically recommend, for the safety of you and your skin you should always be mindful of your pharmacist’s instructions and manufacturer precautions. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions before applying numbing cream.

Zimmer Cryo Cooling Machine – The ultimate comfort during your treatment.

Zimmer Cryo cooling device to increase comfort during laser tattoo removal

We are proud to also incorporate the use of our Zimmer Cryo cooling machine into each of our treatments. Operating on a simple principle, the Zimmer Cryo applies a stream of cold air to cool the skin to negate the hot sensation commonly experienced during a laser treatment. In addition to cooling the skin, this can also provide a numbing effect to the surface and minimise any discomfort. Beyond pain reduction, the use of this cooling machine also has additional benefits; including minimising swelling and redness, which can aid in speeding up recovery times. Its customisable settings also ensure personalised pain relief tailored to your comfort level throughout each of your sessions. Simply let your laser tech know any adjustments you need!

Taking Breaks and Lasering at YOUR pace – We got you!

Ensuring your comfort during treatment is our top priority, and having open communication is key to tailoring treatments to your preferences. We strongly encourage clients to actively engage with their laser technician and to request breaks as needed during their tattoo removal treatments. Recognizing that pain tolerance varies from person to person, these breaks serve as a means to manage discomfort and maintain a comfortable experience throughout the procedure. By openly discussing your comfort levels with your technician, adjustments can be made to the treatment pace, ensuring a tailored and accommodating experience that meets your specific needs. We are always happy to laser at your preferred pace!

Distractions – Let’s help your brain forget the discomfort.

Client getting support from a friend during laser

Communication doesn’t just need to stop at the point of requesting breaks during your treatments. If you have a preferred method of distraction that will assist you during your appointments, we are more than happy to assist accommodating them! One method is listening to music - be it your favourite playlist, a podcast, or calming tunes, this can divert your attention away from discomfort. Engaging in conversation with your laser technician is another great strategy, as it not only serves as a distraction but also helps to make the time pass more quickly during the session. Additionally, we have stress balls on hand that can provide a physical outlet for discomfort, which can help in reducing the perception of pain. Whatever your preferred method of distraction may be, please don’t hesitate to share it with us – we are here to foster a judgement free zone and ensure your needs are met during your laser journey, and if you’re not sure what might help, just ask your laser tech! We have a number of other tried and tested ways to keep yourself distracted during treatments.

Physical and Psychological Preparation – Don’t forget this step!

When preparing for your laser tattoo removal treatments, nurturing both physical and mental well-being plays a huge part in ensuring optimal comfort and recovery. Hydration plays a key role in laser tattoo removal; consuming plenty of water before and after your appointment will aid in skin healing, and can assist with swelling - therefore reducing discomfort. Similarly, consuming a balanced meal beforehand provides your body with the necessary nutrients and energy to undergo your treatment. Conversely, if you are feeling run down, sick, or hungover, do not be afraid to reschedule your appointment; as these are not a good recipe for a successful and comfortable treatment. Understanding that some discomfort is normal can also help you mentally prepare and cope better during the treatment. To ease any anxiety that might accompany this fact, you are more than welcome to bring along a loved one for support, or you can try incorporating mindfulness and deep breathing exercises into your treatment regime. This can help manage both mental anxiety and physical discomfort during the session. By prioritizing hydration, nutrition, and mental preparedness, you are laying the groundwork for a more comfortable and effective laser tattoo removal experience.

Ladies, this one is for you!

For women and AFAB individuals, timing can be everything… yes, we are talking about ‘that time of the month’. During your menstrual cycle your sensory system may be more highly tuned than usual, making your treatments feel more intense. We are more than happy to reschedule to a time more suitable for you, however if you are keen to stick to your scheduled appointment time despite your cycle - please feel free to incorporate as many of the coping techniques we have covered so far in this blog. We understand just how different things can feel around this time, so please feel free to discuss this with your laser tech if you have any concerns or additional needs during your session.

And lastly, but just as important – Post treatment care.

Applying aftercare post laser

Effective post-treatment care is key to avoiding pain associated with the healing stage of laser tattoo removal, while also promoting faster healing. By sticking to your laser technician's aftercare advice, you can significantly reduce discomfort throughout the recovery process. Utilizing recommended aftercare products such as Skintitut’s Laseraid, or Aloe Vera Gel can provide soothing relief to the skin, easing any post-procedure discomfort. Additionally, techniques like elevating treated areas to prevent excess swelling and prioritising rest will further aid in reducing pain and accelerating healing. Following your technician’s aftercare instructions diligently ensures proper healing and minimizes discomfort, ultimately leading to a more comfortable and successful laser tattoo removal experience.

In Conclusion…

Here at LaserTat, we are proud to offer a number of different tools and techniques to assist with the pain associated with tattoo removal treatments. We understand that each person’s pain tolerance and anxiety levels may vary, and pride ourselves on creating a relaxed and judgement free zone for our clients to receive treatments in comfort. Communication is key, so please don’t hesitate to share what will make you most comfortable with your laser tech. Each member of staff here has had laser, so we totally understand how you may be feeling and want to make every step of your laser journey as smooth as possible. Don’t let temporary discomfort stop you from achieving your tattoo removal goals - we are here to support you every step of the way!

Choosing the Right Clinic: A Guide to Selecting Your Tattoo Removal Specialist

Have you had thoughts about embarking on a laser journey, and not known where to start? With tattoo removal becoming increasingly common, more and more clinics are opening their doors to meet the growing demand in the industry. However, not all businesses are created equal - so how do you know who you should entrust your skin with? Whether you're seeking to remove a tattoo for personal, professional, or aesthetic reasons, choosing a reputable clinic can make all the difference in achieving great results safely.

In this blog, we'll delve into the importance of selecting the right clinic for laser tattoo removal, and outline key factors to consider during your search. From the expertise of the practitioners to the technology used, understanding these factors will empower you to make an informed decision and embark on your tattoo removal journey with confidence.

Experience and Expertise

While the laser treatment is performed by a machine, the expertise of the professionals handling your skin is crucial. Trained and experienced staff can assess tattoo size, ink type, and skin tone to tailor a safe and effective removal plan, minimising adverse reactions like pigment changes or skin damage. Proficiency in operating laser equipment and understanding different skin types and ink compositions are essential for achieving desired outcomes. Additionally, experienced staff provide personalised consultations and manage patient expectations realistically, directly influencing treatment success.

The lasertat team

LaserTat's owner, Amanda Mckinnon, has over 12 years of experience in the industry. She and her team are dedicated to staying updated with the latest tattoo removal innovations and regularly undergo training. With a sole focus on tattoo removal, LaserTat ensures clients have a safe, positive experience with excellent results.

Technology and Equipment

The quality and reliability of technology used for tattoo removal are crucial. Modern laser technology has evolved from damaging treatments to faster, more effective methods. Not all laser machines are created equal, and superior models are essential for the best results.

At LaserTat, we use cutting-edge Cynosure lasers, including the Q Switch and PicoSure models. These FDA-cleared and TGA-listed lasers provide advanced treatment for fast, effective tattoo removal. The Q-Switch laser penetrates deep to fade ink deposits and targets various shades, while the PicoSure laser uses picosecond technology to remove difficult colors like blues and greens. Using both lasers, LaserTat can safely and successfully fade even the most complex tattoos.

Safety Measures

Safety protocols are crucial in choosing a clinic for laser tattoo removal to prevent risks. Comprehensive safety measures ensure patient well-being and reduce adverse outcomes like skin injury or infection. Researching a clinic's adherence to industry standards, hygiene practices, and equipment maintenance can build confidence in their services. Some things to look out for when approaching a business for treatment include implementing hygiene measures such as using gloves, cleaning the treatment site before commencing, using safety equipment such as protective eyewear during treatment, and the use of advanced cooling systems whilst lasering.

Image of protective eyewear

In our clinic, we have numerous safety protocols in place to ensure a safe tattoo removal experience. New clients undergo a consultation to discuss skin type, tattoo details, and medical history, allowing us to create a safe, effective treatment plan. During treatments, we provide protective eyewear to minimise eye injury risk from the laser light. We also use a Zimmer cooling system to minimise discomfort and assist with aftereffects. Our staff follow strict hygiene standards, ensuring a safe environment for all clients.

Before and Aftercare

When selecting a laser tattoo removal clinic, ensure they provide comprehensive before and aftercare guidelines. This reflects the clinic's commitment to clients' well-being and treatment success. Proper care instructions optimise results and minimise side effects, preparing the skin for treatment and promoting healing afterward. Adhering to these guidelines reduces complication risks and enhances treatment effectiveness.

Before and aftercare are both topics discussed during the initial consultation. We ensure every client commencing laser treatment is provided written aftercare directions to refer to, as well as a follow up message a few days later to check in during healing. Post treatment we use Skinstitut’s Laser Aid gel, which is also available for purchase to simplify aftercare and ensure effective recovery.

Treatment Plans

Each client has unique treatment needs, so finding a clinic that offers tailored treatment plans is crucial for optimal laser tattoo removal. Personalising treatment parameters based on each tattoo and skin type enhances laser efficiency, leading to better results. This approach also allows for adjustments throughout the sessions to address evolving needs.

Clients discussing aftercare with laser tech

At LaserTat, we assess each client individually to determine the best laser, settings, and treatment spacing for their tattoos and skin type. This is discussed during the initial consultation, and our staff are trained to adjust treatment plans as needed throughout the client's laser journey.

Cost and Packages

Cost is a crucial factor when choosing a tattoo removal clinic. Understanding pricing structures and available packages helps avoid surprises down the line. Clinics may charge by individual tattoo, square inch, or flat rate per session. A reputable clinic will be transparent about pricing, session costs, additional fees, and estimated number of sessions needed.

Affordability is important, but cheaper options may mean lower-quality technology which can result in more sessions, increasing overall costs. Look for clinics balancing affordability, reputation and quality results.

LaserTat offers financial flexibility with package deals, instalment payments, and discounts for multiple tattoos. Clients can purchase three sessions and get the fourth free, repeatedly, for significant savings. We also accept Afterpay, allowing interest-free instalment payments.

Client Reviews and Testimonials

Reviews and testimonials offer valuable insights into others' experiences with a tattoo removal clinic, highlighting the treatment process, results, and satisfaction. Reading reviews on platforms like Google and social media helps potential clients make informed decisions. However, be cautious of fraudulent reviews; genuine ones share common themes and detailed experiences. Verified client reviews are more reliable than anonymous ones. Word-of-mouth recommendations from friends or family who have undergone tattoo removal are also valuable.

At LaserTat, our website's 'reviews' page showcases client before-and-after photos and testimonials. Additional reviews can be found on Google and our social media, particularly on our Instagram page @lasertat where we have a dedicated section in our highlights.

Read some of LaserTat’s client testimonials HERE.

Consultation Process

A thorough consultation is essential for effective tattoo removal. It helps clients understand the process, set realistic expectations, and discuss pricing, risks, and specific requirements. It also allows the practitioner to assess the tattoo, skin type, and health conditions to tailor the treatment plan. And of course it gives clients the opportunity to ask any questions relating to the treatment process.

At LaserTat, every new client starts with a mandatory consultation. Clients fill out a form detailing their tattoos, skin, and medical history while also reading through and acknowledging the treatment process and risks. Our technicians review and discuss this information, providing details on treatment times, session spacing, aftercare, and the treatment plan. We encourage clients to ask questions and voice concerns to ensure they feel confident and informed.

Credentials and Certifications

When choosing a tattoo removal provider, check the staff's certifications, especially in Australia where requirements vary from state to state. Ensure staff certifications align with state government policies to guarantee legal and expert treatment, avoiding potential health risks with unqualified technicians.

Our Laser tech's accreditations on display in the treatment room

All staff at LaserTat, complete the Laser Safety Officer course, trained by Fleming Laser, a leading provider in Australia. Before commencing client treatments each operator must also undergo 3 months of comprehensive in house tattoo removal training lead by industry expert, Amanda Mckinnon to ensure safe and effective treatments.

Location and Accessibility

Logistics are crucial when choosing a tattoo removal provider. Proximity to home or work and mobility access can make appointments more manageable. Researching parking or public transport options can ease anxiety about the first visit. Accessibility also includes clinic hours and online booking systems, accommodating diverse schedules and preferences.

Parking for LaserTat

LaserTat, located in Port Adelaide, is easily accessible by public transport with nearby bus stops. Ample parking is available along the shopfront, St Vincent Street, and an additional car park on Lipson Street. We offer an accessibility ramp for those with mobility needs. Tattoo Removal Myths: Debunking Common Misconceptions

Ever wondered if laser tattoo removal is really as painful as they say? Or questioned whether it actually works? You are not alone. With advances in laser technology and treatments becoming more accessible, misconceptions about laser tattoo removal are as rampant as ever.

In this blog, we're cutting through the noise to tackle these commonly held beliefs head-on. Our aim is to provide you with accurate information so you can make informed decisions about your tattoo removal journey. Stay tuned as we debunk these myths and shed light on the reality of laser tattoo removal.

Myth #1: Laser will cause scarring

Social media screenshots showing questions we have received regarding scarring

Reality:  One of the most common myths surrounding laser tattoo removal is that treatments will cause scarring. While contra-indications such as scarring are possible with any skin treatment, the chances of properly executed laser tattoo removal treatments causing scarring are actually very minimal.

The incidence of scarring is most often dependent on three factors; the first being the level of experience of the technician performing treatment.
Selecting a skilled and experienced business to receive treatment at is crucial for minimizing the chance of scarring. We strongly recommend doing your research before embarking on your laser journey, and verifying the qualifications and track record of the laser technicians providing the treatment. A skilled practitioner will utilise safe and effective laser settings custom to your skin type and tattoo, and should provide personalized aftercare instructions to decrease the risk of scarring.

Secondly, the technology utilised in laser tattoo removal plays a pivotal role in achieving great results. At LaserTat, we pride ourselves on utilising the cutting-edge combination of Cynosure PicoSure and Q-Switch lasers. The PicoSure laser operates at ultra-short picosecond pulses, effectively targeting tattoo pigments while minimising damage to surrounding tissue. Its precision and speed make it particularly effective for removing stubborn or multi-coloured tattoos safely and effectively. The Q-Switch laser delivers high-intensity nanosecond pulses, ideal for breaking down larger ink particles. Having both technologies at hand allows for tailored treatment plans, with minimal risk of contra-indications, such as scarring.

The third factor which can affect whether a client sees scarring is how strictly they adhere to their recommended aftercare regimen.
It's vital to adhere closely to the aftercare instructions provided by your laser tech. These guidelines usually entail maintaining cleanliness in the treated area, avoiding sun exposure, refraining from picking or scratching the skin, and avoiding activities that could cause irritation. Failure to take your laser provider’s recommendations on board can lead to a rocky healing process, which in turn can result with scarring following treatment. These guidelines are given to our clients as we want to see them have the best result possible!

Myth #2: Laser cannot fully remove tattoos

Reality: At LaserTat, we take pride in utilising cutting-edge PicoSure and Q-Switch technology to offer our clients the most effective tattoo removal services available. Over our years of operation, we have achieved success in completely removing tattoos for our clients. However, there are many of factors which can either help or hinder a person’s success throughout their laser journey.

The process of laser tattoo removal relies on both the body’s immune system and lymphatic pathways to metabolise the ink after it has been treated by the laser. Each client’s physiology will differ and therefore the rate at which each person will see fading, along with the degree at which their tattoo responds can vary. Our laser technicians discuss this during each client’s consultation process at the beginning of their laser journey to ensure we are setting realistic expectations for each and every person who comes through our doors.

Results after 2 laser tattoo removal treatments

Along with the client’s physiological rate of response to treatment, the composition of their tattoo can also play a large part in the level of success they have with a complete removal. Factors such as the tattoo’s size, location on the body, and density and colours of ink can greatly influence that rate at which the client will see a full removal. Typically grey wash tattoos will fade the quickest as the concentration of ink in the skin is less than that of a bold tattoo densely packed with ink.

While we strive to deliver the best end results possible, individual results may vary based on these factors. We remain committed to providing personalized care and guidance to ensure the best possible outcomes for every client who entrusts us with their tattoo removal needs.

Myth #3: Certain colours can’t be removed

Reality: Misconceptions surrounding laser tattoo removal can often lead people to believe that certain colours are impossible to effectively treat. However, even the most stubborn coloured inks can be effectively targeted and faded. At LaserTat, we utilize state-of-the-art PicoSure and Q-Switch lasers, each emitting different wavelengths of light to address a broad spectrum of tattoo colours.

Traditionally, colours like green and blue were deemed challenging to remove due to their resistance to absorbing light energy from standard lasers. However, PicoSure's ultra-short pulses of energy have revolutionised tattoo removal by effectively targeting these stubborn colours. The Picosecond technology allows for precise targeting of ink particles, breaking them down into smaller fragments that the body's immune system can naturally eliminate over time.

Q-Switch lasers, on the other hand, operate at different wavelengths tailored to specific colours, including black, red, and yellow. This versatility enables us to customize treatment plans based on the unique composition of each tattoo, ensuring comprehensive fading regardless of colour complexity.

With the above being said, lighter coloured pigments such as yellow and white can pose challenges during the removal process. These colours are more reflective of laser light, making them stubborn to fade compared to others. The reflective nature of these pigments means that they absorb less energy from the laser, requiring additional sessions and specialized techniques for effective removal. While these more stubborn pigments may require more sessions or specialized techniques, our advanced technology and experience allows us to effectively target and fade even the most challenging ink colours.

Myth #4: Laser is painful

Reality: The pain associated with tattoo removal is a common concern for many individuals considering starting their laser journey. While it's widely agreed that the sensation can be more intense compared to getting the tattoo itself, the process is typically very quick. Our advanced lasers fire 10 shots per second, allowing for rapid and effective treatment – you can expect the treatment time to be over in just a few short minutes, if not seconds!

If discomfort during the procedure is still of concern, there are measures in place for handling pain management. Clients have the choice to apply numbing cream to the area prior to coming in for their treatment. To get the greatest numbing effect, we recommend that this is applied approximately two hours before the appointment. While most numbing creams will not remove the sensation of the laser treatment entirely, it can help to dull the sensation of the laser, making the experience more tolerable.

In addition to the option of numbing cream, we utilize a Cryo-Freeze machine during treatments. This machine blows cold air onto the skin, creating a numbing effect that further reduces discomfort. The cooling sensation of the air also provides relief during the procedure, enhancing overall comfort for our clients.

Our skilled laser technicians are also committed to ensuring a comfortable experience for every client. They are attentive to individual needs and preferences, and are more than happy to adjust the pace of the treatment or take breaks as needed. Our goal is to provide personalized care and support throughout the entire tattoo removal process.

While some discomfort may be experienced during tattoo removal, our focus on pain management and client comfort ensures that the procedure is as pleasant as possible. Your comfort and satisfaction are our top priorities, and we're here to support you every step of the way.

Myth #5: Laser tattoo removal burns the skin

Reality: Contrary to popular belief, the heat experienced by clients during the treatment process is not indicative of skin burning, but rather a result of the rapid and intense light energy emitted by the laser. This energy passes across the skin at an extremely high pulse rate, generating friction and subsequently causing a sensation of heat. This hot sensation is a normal side effect of laser tattoo removal, and does not equate to damage or burning of the skin.

Some clients also report experiencing a "burning" taste or smell during treatment. This is not caused by the skin burning but is instead a common side effect of the tattoo ink being broken down by the laser. As the ink particles are targeted, shattered, and then released into the body they may produce a distinct odour or taste, which clients may notice during the procedure.

Myth #6: Laser tattoo removal affects hair growth

Reality: A common concern we hear from clients beginning their laser journey is whether tattoo removal treatment will affect hair growth in the area.

Our machines are calibrated to target ink pigment specifically, ensuring that it bypasses hairs and leaves them untreated. The laser emits pulses of light energy at an extremely rapid rate, which is absorbed by the tattoo pigment within the skin's cells. This process breaks down the ink particles without affecting surrounding tissues or structures, including hair follicles.

Hair growth is regulated by hair follicles located within the skin's dermis layer. These follicles are responsible for producing hair and are not targeted or affected by the laser pulses used in tattoo removal procedures, as the pulse rate required for tattoo removal treatment is too rapid to affect the hair follicle.

Clients undergoing laser tattoo removal can be confident that their hair growth will remain unaffected in the treated area. The precision targeting of the laser ensures that only the tattoo pigment is impacted, leaving surrounding tissues unharmed.

Myth #7: Laser will remove a tattoo in one treatment

Reality: Many enter the world of laser tattoo removal expecting quick, instantaneous results, only to find themselves surprised by the journey ahead. Unlike the relatively quick and easy process of getting a tattoo, removing it requires time, commitment, and understanding.

Laser tattoo removal often takes anywhere from 6 to 12 sessions, sometimes even more, to achieve complete removal. This extended timeframe may seem daunting at first, but it's rooted in the intricate science behind how lasers interact with the skin and ink pigments.

When a tattoo is applied, ink is deposited into the deeper layers of the skin, where it is able to sit permanently. To remove this, lasers are used to break down the ink particles into smaller fragments. These smaller particles are then naturally eliminated by the body's immune system. However, this process is not instantaneous. After each laser session, the body needs time to flush out the fragmented ink particles, and heal the skin in the treated area. This typically takes around 6 to 8 weeks, hence the need for multiple sessions spaced apart.

Laser tattoo removal is a gradual process that requires patience and persistence. While it may take several sessions to achieve the desired results, understanding the process behind it can help manage expectations and appreciate the journey toward a clean canvas once more. So, if you're embarking on this path, remember: patience truly is the key to success.

Myth #8: If a tattoo does not “frost”, the treatment isn’t working

Reality: When undergoing laser tattoo removal, witnessing a phenomenon known as "frosting" can be a reassuring sign that the treatments are working. However, the absence of frosting does not necessarily imply that the treatment isn't effective. Frosting occurs during laser tattoo removal when the targeted pigment in the skin absorbs the laser energy, leading to the formation of microscopic gas bubbles. These bubbles are produced as a whitish-grey discoloration on the skin's surface, indicating that the ink particles are being effectively fragmented.

The science behind frosting lies in the principle of selective photothermolysis, where the laser's wavelength is absorbed by the tattoo pigment, causing it to heat up and break apart into smaller particles. The visible frosting is the result of the vaporization of these pigment particles.

As clients progress along their laser journey and receive more treatments, there will be less ink remaining in the skin. Consequently, there might be a reduced amount of pigment available to absorb the laser energy, leading to a diminished frosting response. This does not mean that the treatment is no longer effective; rather, it suggests that there is less pigment remaining to react with the laser.

The effectiveness of the treatment should not solely be assessed on the presence of frosting, but instead on factors such as fading of the tattoo over successive sessions, and the overall progress towards achieving the desired result.

It’s easy for us to talk about our results, but we understand just how important it is to also hear from our client’s perspective too. After all they’re the ones that have gone through the laser journey first hand.

Real clients; Real results; Real inspiration.

The decision to pursue laser tattoo removal is often driven by a variety of emotions, personal narratives and motivations. The reasons behind seeking out this process can include wanting to remove tattoos tied to past experiences, such as, associations with past relationships, incarceration, or affiliations with certain groups, wanting to replace old ink with a new tattoo design or others may just want a clean slate. Despite the seemingly straightforward nature of tattoo removal portrayed on social media, the reality is that it can be emotionally taxing for some, as it involves confronting memories and undergoing physical transformation. Nonetheless, laser tattoo removal offers individuals the opportunity for change and growth as they navigate their journey towards a new chapter in their lives.
Let's explore some of our clients who are happy to share their authentic experiences and success stories from their laser tattoo removal journey with all of you!

Creating a new career opportunity for Curt:

Client before commencing tattoo removal treatments

Curt before having laser tattoo removal treatments

Curt first applied for the Australian Defence Force in April 2019 and was advised that their policy was that they would not accept any visible tattoos from the collar up. Curt was heavily tattooed on his neck, head and face and began laser tattoo removal on these areas immediately knowing that this could be a 1-2 year process (or longer) for complete removal. Curt’s journey to remove these tattoos was no easy ride, in-fact it was probably one of the toughest we have seen. He would come in every 3-4 weeks where we would split his treatments into different areas, face, left side of the neck, centre of the neck, right side of the neck and scalp.

Curt post laser treatment during the healing stage

The healing was challenging at times with some treatments resulting in swelling, blistering and pin point bleeding on some of the most sensitive areas of the body. In April 2020, Curt was offered a position into the ADF and sent images of where he was at with his laser treatments. Unfortunately at this point he wasn’t fully accepted as the tattoos were still too dark, especially under the chin. Together we continued with frequent treatments to lighten and remove his tattoos even further. In July 2021 he received a formal job offer and enlistment date for August 2021. Curt’s strength and determination to achieve the results needed is truly inspiring!

”For the past 12 years I have worked in the tattoo industry and as a result of that I gathered quite a few tattoos along the way!

After getting married and having 2 children I felt the need for a bit of stability and consistency both in work hours and financially, so the thought of a defence force career popped up again and my long….long journey of tattoo removal began.

Amanda and the girls at LaserTat are amazing and have helped me and encouraged me the whole way through the process even on the days that I didn't want to deal with another session they made it as comfortable and friendly as possible and without that I may have not made it all this way.

I cannot recommend LaserTat enough to anyone wanting to remove a little old tattoo or to help completely change your life like they have in my instance.” - Curt

Expectation vs. reality for Melissa:

Tattoo before and after 10 laser treatments

Melissa had hoped for a sentimental tattoo that was intended to honor her children. Unfortunately, the end result did not match the expectations or vision she had, ultimately leaving her unhappy with the tattoo. Disappointed, Melissa made the decision to have the tattoo completely removed.

“I got my tattoo to represent my two sons, the position of the hands reflected their birthdates.

The reason I chose to remove my tattoo was because I just didn't "LOVE" it. It didn't turn out the way I had planned and there were little things I wanted to change.

I feel pleased that it is no longer visible because I wasn't happy with the final result. Instead of looking down and feeling disappointed I can now start again with a blank slate.

I always felt comfortable and welcome at LaserTat, right from the initial consult through to the after care. I thought I would feel "silly" or judged for changing my mind about my tattoo, but the staff were kind, helpful and really made the experience easy. The staff were knowledgeable and always talked through the stage my removal was at, what it needed and what they were going to do next.

The laser experience was a little painful, but it's over so quickly and the staff are attentive to pausing for breaks if they are needed. I followed the aftercare instructions and didn't have any issues healing. Different parts my body (back vs wrist) reacted slightly differently in regards to tenderness, swelling and bruising but it would settle the next day. This was all outlined to me before I had the treatment so there weren't any surprises.

Any advice I can provide is that if you're not happy with your tattoo, change it. Use the numbing cream and give it plenty of time to do its magic (at least a couple of hours), as it does take the 'sting' out of it. Gone are the days when our parents would say, "Choose a tattoo carefully, because you're stuck with it for life". I'm so glad that there is a service like LaserTat that gives flexibility and freedom to the choices we make with our bodies.” – Melissa

Bringing back clean skin for Kate:

client before and after 9 tattoo removal treatments

Kate embraced her tattoos in her youth, at the time appreciating the aesethic appeal. However, as she matured, she found herself uncomfortable with the tattoos on her body, causing her to be self-consious in her own skin. Kate has made the empowering choice to embrace ‘clean skin’, choosing to part ways with tattoos. This decision has allowed her to find comfort and confidence in her skin again.

“I got my tattoos when I was young and I really liked them at the time. They didn’t have a special meaning or deep connection to me, I just liked them so I got them.

I chose to remove them because as I got older they felt outdated and made me self-conscious about having them on my body. I felt I had outgrown them.

Having laser tattoo removal made me feel more like myself. As we grow we change and having clean skin is important to me now.

The girls at LaserTat were so honest and helpful. I found the process really painful and they never made me feel like I wasn’t handling the pain well or was complaining too much. They gave me information and guidance to get the best results which was leave as much time in between your removals as you can and you will see better results. I went roughly every 4 months for the removal on my back but as it started to fade I left it longer in between treatments and the results speak for themselves. My other tattoos I am getting removed I only have them lasered once a year and the results are already incredible

I felt the girls at LaserTat were genuine with their advice and service and didn’t want me to keep coming back to a schedule so they could make money every 6 weeks. It really was to help me achieve my results and i appreciate their professionalism

Advice for people removing their tattoos is go to LaserTat for the best results.

This has honestly been such a great experience and I am very grateful, thank you.” – Kate

Conquering insecurities for Sophie:

tattoo before and after 7 treatments

Sophie's decision to remove the tattoo on her ankle stemmed from her opinion of its poor quality, characterised by heavy shading that no longer aligned with her preferred tattoo style. Additionally, the tattoo had become a significant source of insecurity for her. When beginning her treatments we took a cautious approach, gradually introducing the 532nm wavelength to target the red/yellow ink in which Sophie had previously experienced an allergic reaction too. Although there was a likelihood of another reaction, we managed the risk carefully, and fortunately, there were no adverse reactions. While the visible results may seem minimal to some, both Sophie and our laser technicians are genuinely pleased with the progress, especially considering the potential for scarring and further reactions in the red ink of the tattoo.

“The girls at LaserTat are amazing and all so lovely! 2022 I started my laser tattoo removal at a different clinic and after one session it left me traumatised and literally scarred because I had a horrible reaction. The laser had been turned right up and no cooling aid was used during or after the laser. After a few weeks went by my tattoo wasn’t showing any signs of getting better so I reached out to the girls at LaserTat told them what had happened and what I was experiencing, they asked for photos and they advised me what to do. Sure enough I started to heal up. Once I was healed and the reaction went away, I went to my first appointment and I haven’t looked back since. I’ve experienced 0 reactions and I heal up beautifully. I’m a few sessions in now and I have been loving my results. Unfortunately it does take time and patience but it’s all going to be worth it in the end, tattoos are no longer permanent!” – Sophie

Cover-up alternatives:

When it comes to transforming tattoos, it can be beneficial to consider options outside of complete removal. Laser tattoo removal isn’t solely about the complete removal of a tattoo, many clients opt to fade their tattoos to get a cover-up they will love. Generally 2-4 treatments are recommend to fade for a cover-up, although this may vary based on the design choice and the preference of your chosen tattoo artist. Let’s hear from some of our clients who chose the cover-up route as opposed to complete removal.

Jason’s youthful ink regrets:

At the young age of 16, Jason joined his friends in getting Italian card deck Ace tattoos, not considering the consequences at the time. With a friend’s amateur attempt, the tattoo turned into a regrettable DIY job. Over time, embarrassment grew as the poorly done tattoo no longer held any relevance and worsened by strangers saying the end of the tattoo resembled a male appendage when wearing t-shirts. It was at this point that Jason realised the tattoo needed to go!

“My experience with LaserTat has always been amazing! They are always patient and made sure I was comfortable throughout my treatments, always setting realistic expectations for both treatments and results. While the laser sessions could sometimes be rough, they were always understanding and gave me breaks making it more manageable. I am beyond happy with my results that LaserTat has helped me achieve. By removing the old tattoo, it allowed me to feel confident in my skin and allowed me to have the creative freedom with a new tattoo that I now love and am not embarrassed to show. I no longer feel the need to cover up my arm from others.” – Jason

A tattoo artist’s perspective, why lasering for cover-ups can be so beneficial:

It is certainly becoming more common for Tattoo Artists to recommend their clients to undergo laser tattoo removal before commencing with a cover-up. This approach is gaining traction as it allows for better artistic freedom and enhanced results in the cover-up process. Let’s hear from 2 of Australia’s highly respected Tattoo Artists as they delve into the benefits of lasering for a cover-up and their experiences.

“My client was after some dark evil type of art to cover the lasered area. With a slight bit of green still showing it actually looks part of the piece, we will either add opaque greys over it or leave it as is and utilise the colour. Main thing is he is beyond happy with the new tatt and pleased to say goodbye to the previous!

This is a reminder to anyone who is not happy with work they have that it can be removed and replaced with better work (some work only needs a little fading, all depends on what it is)” – Raydems, Masterminds Tattoo Studio

“A lot of my cover-up work wouldn’t have been possible unless the clients had laser first. When clients don’t want a dark or saturated tattoo, having a few laser treatments allows for a cover-up with much more creative freedom and flexibility. As a Tattoo Artist, I will never go ahead with a tattoo that will compromise my quality of work and will often refer clients to have laser if the cover-up isn’t achievable without the help of fading first.” – Kelly McKinnon, Black Diamond Tattoo

LaserTat's Guide to Cosmetic Eyebrow Tattoo Removal

Welcome to the fascinating world of cosmetic eyebrow tattoo removal, an ever-evolving landscape of beauty where trends shift and beauty evolves. In this blog, we delve into the world of cosmetic eyebrow laser tattoo removal, exploring the intricacies of the process, its uniqueness compared to conventional tattoo removal, and the motivations behind why people remove them.

Why Remove Cosmetic Eyebrow Tattoos?

The decision to remove eyebrow tattoos is as varied as the ink colours themselves. Trends shift, personal tastes evolve, and sometimes, a once-beloved brow enhancement no longer resonates with our current sense of beauty. Some may be unhappy with the shape, style, colour of their eyebrows and others may feel that the tattoos were executed poorly. Whether seeking a fresh canvas or correcting a less-than-ideal result, the reasons behind the desire to undo eyebrow tattoos are as diverse as the individuals making the choice.

The Unique World of Removing Cosmetic Ink:

Cosmetic tattoo ink can be a very unpredictable; this is because, unlike traditional tattoos, cosmetic ink is tailored to an individual's hair and skin colour. The ink is specifically blended and often contains multiple coloured ink pigments. There are also several different ways that cosmetic eyebrow ink is tattooed into the skin; micro-bladed/feathering, ombre or machine-stroked which can determine how the removal process takes place. Due to these unique factors the removal process requires precision and expertise to tailor each individual’s treatment plan. It is also important to note that unlike body tattoos, cosmetic ink removal requires different laser settings, block-out goggles for eye safety, and a promise – it won’t affect your precious hair follicles. Laser tattoo removal machines are fast pulsed and therefore have no time to kill the hair follicle like an IPL machine does.

A personalised approach:

Consultation and planning are key to a successful cosmetic eyebrow tattoo removal journey. Your unique skin and the various colours within the tattoo guide our approach as no two brows are the same. Some clients may be looking for a complete removal for a fresh canvas, while others may simply want to fade their current eyebrow tattoos to later have them re-done in a different style, shape or colour. Generally the number of treatments needed to achieve the desired results is 2-6 sessions, however, ultimately this will be dictated by the coloured ink pigments within your brows and how effectively they remove.

Navigating the Removal Process: Outcomes and Possibilities!

The removal process can unfold in various ways. Occasionally it can be quite straightforward, requiring only 1-2 treatments for either fading or complete removal. In some cases immediate results can also be visible.

For some clients as we begin to remove their eyebrow tattoos, underlying warmer ink pigments may become visible. To ensure a thorough removal in these cases, the process of oxidisation becomes necessary. Oxidisation is where we utilise a different wavelength of laser light that targets the warmer ink pigments and makes it darker. After the warm ink undergoes oxidisation, we can continue the removal process, targeting the dark ink. This scenario is why multiple treatments may be necessary for eyebrows, given the diverse range of colours present.

At times during the removal procedure, it becomes visible that clients have yellow ink pigment in their eyebrow tattoos. Unfortunately, in this scenario, the laser is unable to penetrate the yellow ink, making laser removal ineffective in these cases. In these instances, we suggest exploring the option of saline removal. This method involves tattooing a saline solution into the skin over the ink pigment. The ink is essentially drawn to the skin's surface, leading to the formation of scabs that eventually fall off, taking the pigment with them. It's important to note that LaserTat does not provide this treatment. Additionally, as with any procedure, saline removal may not be suitable for everyone, and we strongly advise conducting thorough research and understanding the associated risks before considering this option.

Post-Treatment Care:
Initially the laser tattoo removal treatment may create some slight redness and swelling. Some may experience light bruising and like with any laser tattoo removal treatment there can be a risk of blistering, although this is very rare. Due to the nature of how eyebrow tattoos are lasered, generally the downtime is significantly lower than most other laser treatments. It is important to keep the area clean while it’s healing. Keeping in mind some precautions such as, staying out of sunlight, tanning booths and avoiding using specific facial products until the area is healed. Makeup can be applied to the treated area after 24hours and most other skin treatments such as microdermabrasion and facials should be avoided for 2 weeks following your treatment.

Real Stories, Real Transformations:

“I’ve been one of those people who has done one of the many beauty trends way before it was considered trendy, including having my brows micro-bladed … three times! Twice by the same technician and once by someone different. At the time I loved my brows but what I wasn’t prepared for was the different shades of ink throughout my brows – it was looking nasty. Then along came the more natural laminated look so I decided to take the plunge and get my brows lasered. I have seen LaserTat all the way through and they have been all kinds of amazing from being informative, to patient, supportive and professional. I’m absolutely stoked with the progress so far and even though I can see my 80’s brows more clearly now, I much prefer this look to the multi-coloured brows I had before. I cannot recommend LaserTat highly enough. Thank you!” – Linda Leske

“Had laser on my dreadful eyebrows that had been mirco-bladed. Two sessions of laser and they are just about back to normal! The girls were fantastic!” - Annonymous

“I have had black eyebrows for nearly 3 years and they looked ridiculous with my fair hair. After many different options and much money I found LaserTat. It was amazing. 30 seconds laser and I have lovely light brows again. Thank you, wonderful job!!!” - Wendy Ettidge

Beyond Eyebrows: Other Cosmetic Inks and Limitations!

Cosmetic ink extends beyond eyebrows, this can include SMP (scalp micropigmentation), freckles, beauty spots, lip liner and eyeliner. The removal of lip liner and eyeliner tattoos is not a service we offer here at LaserTat. Eyeliner removal requires eye shields to be inserted and this procedure can only be performed by a doctor or optometrist. Lip liner or lipstick tattoos, just like some eyebrows, will oxidise and turn darker creating an unflattering result.

Is It Your Time for Transformation?

If you’ve been living with cosmetic tattooed eyebrows that you are unhappy with we can offer you a consultation with one of our lovely laser technicians who will take you through the process step by step and tailor a treatment plan that is right for you. If you would like to book an appointment online this can be conveniently done via our online booking system using the link below.

Conquering the impossible

Read our heartwarming story of how we helped our client remove a medical stain from an iron infusion gone wrong

Laser tattoo removal is not always as simple as it appears on our website or social media platforms. Our treatments can sometimes extend beyond the removal of conventional skin tattoos or cosmetic tattoos. You may be thinking what can the removal of an unconventional tattoo entail? Let us introduce you to a participant from our Fresh Start program who embarked on a journey that led us into uncharted territory here at Lasertat. A young lady, afflicted with a rare medically caused 'tattoo', presenting us with a unique challenge. Fuelled by our passion for innovation, we embraced her case, striving to provide a solution. Continue reading to learn of our approach to the removal of a truly distinctive medical tattoo, along with the firsthand experiences shared by our client, Lainy.

Let us state that by sharing this story Lainy and her mum hope that they can help others who may have encountered similar circumstances and provide hope for a new beginning.
Lainy embarked on her laser journey with us in 2021, becoming our youngest participant in the Fresh Start program. Following an ill-fated intravenous iron infusion administered by an untrained nurse, Lainy found herself with a sizable iron stain on her arm.
Lainy underwent an iron infusion procedure aiming to address her medical needs. During the treatment Lainy endured an agonizing sensation as if her arm was on fire. It was later discovered that the infusion, intended to last an hour, was hastily completed in just 20 minutes. After the procedure, the nurse tightly bandaged Lainy's arm, and she returned to school. However, upon removing her jacket later in the day, Lainy was horrified to discover patches all over her arm. In a state of alarm, Lainy and her mum promptly revisited the GP, who referred them to the hospital due to concerns of potential necrosis. At the hospital, they were informed of two critical errors during the infusion. Firstly, the area should not have been bandaged, as the tightness caused the iron to seep out of the vein. Secondly, the nurse had removed the needle improperly. The hospital staff initially assured Lainy and her mum that the stain would naturally fade in the following days. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and Lainy's condition worsened, leading to her hospitalization with a fever of 41 degrees celsius.

“I would describe the circumstances I found myself in as scary and uncertain. I had never experienced something like this, so the combination of the physical sickness and the huge stain both freaked me out a lot.- Lainy

The large iron stain was severely impacting Lainy’s self-esteem and often confined her to her home. Iron stains are generally an uncommon outcome from an iron infusion and can sometimes be permanent without the intervention of any treatment. The appearance of an iron stain can be described as severe hyperpigmentation, being dark brown or grey in pigment. As a result, Lainy often found herself subjected to curious stares and inquiries about the origin of the stain.

Images taken the day after iron infusion:

Upon consulting with a dermatologist, Lainy received disheartening news that there were no viable options available to address her situation. However, driven by her mother's tireless efforts, they discovered our clinic, hopeful that laser treatments could potentially provide a solution. Working closely with Cynosure, the manufacturer of our lasers, we gained access to research papers detailing successful cases of iron stain removal utilizing Q-Switch and Picosure lasers. Despite the promising findings, it was still uncertain for both Lainy and our team, if her iron stain could be effectively removed.

“I felt helpless thinking that the stain was going to be permanent. When it was more prominent, I couldn’t leave the house without multiple people pointing it out and asking about it through the day. It made me very insecure for a while. My mum reached out to a skin specialist to see if there was anything we could do. When we arrived at his clinic, the receptionist told us that he had said he’d researched it and there was nothing that he could do for us. This was an even scarier thought, because at this stage we knew it wasn’t going to fade on its own.

After being turned down by the skin specialist, my Mum went hard-core Mum mode and scoured the internet for hours. She eventually found an article about how laser tattoo removal can be an effective treatment for iron staining, and reached out to LaserTat shortly after. - Lainy

As we have already mentioned Lainy joined our Fresh Start program & became our youngest participant to date. Our Fresh Start program is something that our business is very proud of and we often speak of it in social media posts and blogs; let’s recap. LaserTat’s Fresh Start program is devoted to making laser tattoo removal more accessible to people in vulnerable and financially unstable circumstances. The program offers free treatments to those who desperately want to leave their past and unwanted tattoos behind. There is criteria in place for applicants to be considered eligible for the program, one of those is having medical tattoos. Medical tattoos are used in the field of medicine to mark areas of the body for various reasons, such as, radiation therapy targets, surgical incision lines, or identification of specific medical conditions or allergies. Lainy's circumstances fell into a category that met this criteria. Amanda, the owner of LaserTat, had no hesitation in accepting Lainy into the program, recognizing the significant impact it was having on a young girl's well-being. Not to mention that treating Lainy's iron stain would have otherwise cost their family thousands of dollars for an unintended mistake that caused the stain in the first place.

With the transparency of iron stain removal being new territory for us, Lainy was happy to proceed and commit to the removal treatments. During each appointment, we evaluated the affected area, discussed the healing process from the previous treatment, and assessed the effectiveness of the settings and wavelengths used. Employing a combination of all three wavelengths, we targeted the iron at various depths within the skin. In numerous instances, we utilized a double pass of the laser, incorporating multiple wavelengths to optimize the efficacy of iron stain removal. Over time, we began seeing remarkable results using these techniques. Lainy faced challenges during her journey, particularly in the initial stages, experiencing blistering, swelling, and occasional pinpoint bleeding, making the healing process demanding.

“My experience having laser has been amazing. Every now and then healing has been quite painful, but that tends to be when we see the best results. It’s a lot easier and quicker than you might think. Not only that, but the team has been absolutely brilliant throughout this entire process. There is so much care and compassion and all of the laser technicians I’ve met have such a strong drive to help throughout this process. I would absolutely recommend LaserTat to anybody struggling with an iron stain like I have.- Lainy

Post laser images – healing (not from the same treatment):

We have been truly inspired by Lainy's perseverance and commitment to her laser treatments, and we are incredibly grateful to Lainy for allowing us to share her unique story. While we are not yet at the end of her laser journey, we are approaching the final stages and can't wait for the complete removal of her iron stain. We are honoured to be a part of and to have witnessed Lainy's renewed sense of comfort and confidence in her skin.

The Fresh Start Program has changed my life in so many ways. The stain has faded almost completely in a big patch on my arm, and the rest of the fading is so significant that I rarely get comments or questions anymore. So not only has the fresh start program helped me cosmetically, but financially it’s been a lifesaver. I am so grateful to LaserTat for their generosity and compassion, because if not for that, I never would have been able to have this treatment or have the results I’ve gotten.- Lainy
